I am Clare Downham, ‘Your Wellbeing Guide’ of Unique Journey and I guide stressed out, anxious professionals on a unique journey to true wellbeing through one-to-one sessions, group programs, business workshops and keynotes.

Wellbeing has become a buzz word in the last few years and when you look at what is happening in the world it is easy to see why. Statistics say that stress causes or contributes to 70% of illness! In recent years, tackling this has become a priority for many businesses and individuals. The realisation that absenteeism, staff turnover and presenteeism are affecting our businesses’ bottom lines has led a search for the answer to how to reduce the stress of our workforce. This has felt even more urgent as more of our workforce have begun working from home.

But what if our attempts to manage stress and improve wellbeing were making things worse? What if, the whole basis on which we have built our stress management and wellbeing systems has been built on a misunderstanding of what is at the root cause of stress.

I was a Headteacher when, in March 2015, I walked out of work and never went back. A year after burning out, I resigned from my 20-year career in education and began my journey to become ‘Your Wellbeing Guide’.

For the last 4 years, I have been helping individuals and teams manage stress. Focusing on using tools and techniques like Hypnotherapy, NLP, Mindfulness and Traditional Coaching, my workshop, ‘Stress to Success Habits’ gave participants a set of tools and techniques to help them manage stress and improve wellbeing.

Over that time, I became increasingly disillusioned with this way of helping people. It seemed that ‘managing wellbeing’ was not the answer as it appeared to increase the things people needed to do. As I was having this realisation, I came upon the truth of how human experience is created which I now share with individuals and in workshops.

This understanding has transformed the way I help people both individually and in teams. My focus now is on delivering powerful sessions which help to reduce the amount people have on their minds rather than add more. In this way they are able to access True Wellbeing.
